At the February 13, 2017 regular Board meeting, Mr. Bert Matthews gave the annual audit report of the District retirement system, records and files for the year ending Aug. 31, 2016. The District received a clean audit with all records and files in excellent shape. No irregularities were found. Mr. Matthews commended Sharon White, Office Manager, on another excellent audit report.
At a special budget meeting held on August 18, 2016 the Board of Supervisors passed the 2016-17 budget of $ 1,064,504.49 and set the 2016-17 tax rate at 0.065010 per $100 property valuation. This rate is the effective rate. The rollback rate is .070210.
The independent audit of Brookshire-Katy Drainage District for the year 2014-2015 was completed by Bert Matthews, C.P.A. on February 22, 2016. Mr. Matthews reported the books and records were in excellent order and in compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. No irregularities were found. The Board accepted the audit report of Mr. Matthews.
Brookshire-Katy Drainage District will cancel the May 7, 2016 Election of Supervisors Area One and Two. Supervisor of Area One, Brian Waggoner, refiled for his position. Supervisor of Area Two, Ruth Ellis, refiled for her position. Neither had any opposition, therefore, the District will hold a special meeting on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 8 AM to cancel the May 7, 2016 Election of Supervisors.

At a special budget meeting held on August 7, 2015 at 7:30 AM at the District office, the Board set the 2015-16 tax rate at 0.071262 per one hundred dollar evaluation. This is a tax decrease for the fourth year in a row. The Board also adopted a budget of $1,053,162 for 2015-2016.
The District Rules and Regulations 07-01 and required checklists/forms are now available online. Please contact the District Engineer, Mr. Charles A. Kalkomey, at 281-342-2033, who will determine which section of the Rules and Regulations is applicable to your development/project.
Please read that section carefully. Do not use the old forms in the Blue Book. The updated checklist and permit forms to be filled out are listed individually. The checklist is a guideline of information to be submitted to the District office with an electronic copy sent to Mr. Kalkomey at least TWO WEEKS prior to the Board meeting. Mr. Kalkomey will review the information submitted and contact you, if needed. An incomplete packet, such as a missing bond or check for fees or insufficient drainage calculations, can result in unnecessary delays.
