Permit Applicants – Due to limited storage space at the Brookshire-Katy Drainage District office, please only bring ONE hard copy of the permit application, checklist, drawings and plans, and an electronic copy on a CD when submitting your permit application. Your application fees and inspection fees, if required, must be included at the time of permit application submittal. If required, also bring original tax certificates and title report.
Please submit ALL of the above information to the District engineer, Charles Kalkomey, too, for his review at least 2 weeks prior to the monthly board meeting held on the 2nd Monday of each month.
Each permit application has a checklist to follow and complete. Incomplete permit applications will NOT be accepted.
At a special meeting, held on Feb. 26, 2018 at 8 AM at the District office, independent auditor, Bert Matthews CPA, gave his report on the 2016-2017 audit for Brookshire-Katy Drainage District. The District received another clean audit with no irregularities found and Sharon White, Office Manager, was commended again for having done on an excellent job on keeping the District books and records in order. Sharon White has received a clean audit on the District books and records each year for the last 30 years.
The current Supervisors, Area 3 Pat Keeling, Area 4 David Hunsucker and Area 5 Raymond Dollins, each re-filed for their positions, and drew no opposition for the May 5, 2018 Supervisor election. Brookshire-Katy Drainage District held a special meeting on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 8 AM at the District office, 1111 Kenney St., Brookshire, Texas and canceled the May 5, 2018 election.
On January 31, 2018 Superintendent J.L. Rose retired after 12 years with the District. Assistant Superintendent Stan Kitzman was promoted to Superintendent by Board action at a special meeting held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2 PM in the afternoon. Stan has been with the District for over 2 years and is ready to serve in his new capacity.
On January 31, 2018 Superintendent J.L. Rose will retire after a 12 year tenure with Brookshire-Katy Drainage District. A lovely retirement party was held in his honor on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Pattison Area Volunteer Fire Department. The Board presented J.L. with a lovely plaque in his honor and a Resolution of Appreciation. Even though the weather was dreary outside, over 100 of his friends and family attended to wish J.L. and his dear wife, Bessie, a Happy Retirement.
At a special budget meeting held on August 16, 2017 at 8 AM at the District office located at 1111 Kenney St., Brookshire, Texas, the Brookshire-Katy Drainage District Board of Supervisors voted to adopt a budget of $1,089,915.88 for the year 2017-2018 and set the tax rate of 0.061452 per $100 dollar valuation for the year 2017-2018. This is the effective tax rate figured by Ellen Contreras Shelburne, Waller County Tax Assessor Collector. The new fiscal year begins September 1, 2017.
At the February 13, 2017 regular Board meeting, Mr. Bert Matthews gave the annual audit report of the District retirement system, records and files for the year ending Aug. 31, 2016. The District received a clean audit with all records and files in excellent shape. No irregularities were found. Mr. Matthews commended Sharon White, Office Manager, on another excellent audit report.
